Datum: 04-10-2011 - 04-10-2011

Locatie: VU main building, Amsterdam

Omschrijving:

Improving diagnosis, treatment and prevention of common and rare diseases

On Tuesday October 4, the Centre for Medical Systems Biology (CMSB) organises its 8th Annual Symposium, which will be held at the VU in Amsterdam.

Also this year there is a varied programme applying to the CMSB theme "Improving diagnosis, treatment and prevention of common and rare diseases".

In the morning, there are four overview stories given by well-established CMSB researchers: Eco de Geus, Gisela Terwindt, Peter Heutink and Silvère van der Maarel. In the afternoon, there are three parallel sessions. In these sessions our researchers will present their findings covering the main CMSB research programme diseases Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, depression, metabolic syndrome and migraine, the theme ‘social aspects of genomics’, and platforms immunology and DIAL (data integration, analysis and logistics). As our closing speaker, we are honoured to present Tune H. Pers, a computational biologist currently employed as a research fellow at Children’s Hospital Boston and the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. He will talk about some of his recent work in the presentation “Integrative Systems Biology: Elucidating Complex Traits”.
