Locatie: NCB Naturalis, Leiden
Omschrijving:
On Friday October 15, the Centre for Medical Systems Biology (CMSB) organises its 7th Annual Symposium, which will be held in the auditorium of NCB Naturalis (Darwinweg, Leiden). The symposium is free of charge.
Also this year there is a varied programme applying to the CMSB theme "Improving diagnosis, treatment and prevention of common and rare diseases". In the morning, our researchers will present their findings covering the five main CMSB research programme diseases: Alzheimer’s disease, Arthritis, Depression, Metabolic Syndrome and Migraine, and the two platforms Immunology and DIAL (Data Integration, Analysis and Logistics). In the afternoon, there is a learning/teaching/educational session ‘Biophenotyping’ with presentations that will give insight into state of the art techniques and methods in cellular phenotyping, proteomics, metabolomics and imaging.
As our keynote lecturer, we are honoured to present Aarno Palotie (Head of Medical Sequencing, Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, UK). After his presentation "Migraine and other complex disorders" he will join the discussion session lead by Martijn Breuning on Genomics and Society, in which our panel of experts will debate with the audience on the medical and social impact of complex genetics. Besides Aarno Palotie, this panel consists of, among others, Gertjan van Ommen, Toine Pieters and Lidewij Henneman.
Registration is free of charge; please register at www.boerhaavenet.nl, where you can also find the programme.
